The Knoxville Community School District and Kwik Trip Inc. are expected to close on the purchase of land at the end of the month.

The sale of this property was approved in December for $400,000 and the district and Kwik Trip are expected to close on September 30th. The location, which will feature a Kwik Star store, is on the corner of West Pleasant and Highway 14, which is land owned by the Knoxville Community School District, along with the land of the site of the former Knoxville Middle School, which is now owned by the city. Knoxville Community School District Business Manager Craig Mobley says once the land is closed on, the district will now have sold off all of that property.

“The only thing remaining with the district is the little L-shaped two acres that Kwik Star will take over. That process is still ongoing. We should be closing with them sometime around the end of September and then that process will move forward on Kwik Star’s timeline.”

Kwik Trip stores in Iowa are named Kwik Stars due to branding competition with an already existing company. The Wisconsin-based group has seen rapid growth in the midwest over the last decade, and will also open a store in Pella near the Washington St. and Highway 163 interchange, which is expected to be complete in fall of 2025.
