The City of Knoxville has provided an update on street improvements construction.

This has been an ongoing project that has closed down several main corridors throughout the city. According to the update provided by the city, as of the end of last week Windstream has completely finished their work on stage one, which is 1st to 2nd St.. Now that their work has been completed, crews can get back on the site and continue their work. The remaining storm sewer pipe was installed and the concrete collars were poured on September 6th. Over the next few weeks, subdrain installation will be completed and subbase prep will begin. The city assumes the remaining work for stage one should go smoothly and we’re hopeful to see pavers close to the end of September.

For stage two, which is 3rd to 5th St., the next few weeks will consist of sanitary sewer installation from 4th to 3rd which includes completing the mainline as well as the majority of services. The water main from 5th to 4th will be installed over the next few weeks. This will require clearance from Windstream services, as well as significant coordination with the Kline’s gas station project.

The timeline provided by the city says that stage one and two are expected to be completed in November, with stage three starting in April.
