After a scoreless first half, a combined five goals were scored after the intermission in the Central College women’s soccer team’s 3-2 loss to Edgewood College (Wis.) on Wednesday.
Despite being outscored, the Dutch (3-2) out-shot the Eagles 26-11 with 15 shots on goal. Central got on the board early in the second half, when midfielder Kylie Bloomstrom found forward Grace Coates, who opened the scoring with her third goal of the season in the 49th minute. The Dutch gave up three unanswered goals before closing the scoring late. In the 82nd minute, Central capitalized on a corner kick when midfielder Amber Santana scored her first goal of the season, with Abby Frey and Olivia DeVos grabbing the assists.
The Dutch return to the pitch on Saturday, hosting Hamline (Minn.) at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex soccer field.
