Central Sweeps Conference Cross Country Honors

A pair of Central College cross country runners received American Rivers Conference honors for their efforts last Saturday.

Sophomore Jack Brown was named the conference’s men’s cross country runner of the week, while junior Peyton Steffen won the award in women’s cross country. Brown claimed his second individual title of the young season on Saturday, winning the Les Duke Invitational at Grinnell. In the season’s first 8,000-meter race, Brown won in 25:58.5, leading Central to the team crown as well. Steffen also won the individual title for the Dutch women’s team, finishing the 6,000-meter course in 22:18.1. Steffen’s finish helped the #15 nationally ranked Central women’s squad win the Les Duke Invitational for the third season in a row.

Both Central teams are off until the Division III Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Indiana on October 4th.
