Despite a third-set surge, it was largely all #4 in Class 4A Pella in a convincing three-set victory (25-12, 25-14, 25-22) over #11 in 2A Pella Christian in the Tulip City Showdown Tuesday.
The home team kept P.C. off balance throughout the match, led by a strong service line attack and followed up by big blocks. The only lead of significance for the Eagles came at 20-17 in set three, but otherwise, it was a series that belonged to the Dutch.
Pella was led by 11 kills from Brooke Schulte and 10 kills and five blocks from Abbie Brand. Bryn Roozeboom and Rachel Kacmarynski each tallied seven kills apiece.
The Dutch move to 18-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while Pella Christian falls to 9-4 and 1-2 against LHC teams. A rematch will come in short order as both teams head to Urbandale Thursday for the Des Moines Christian tournament.
