The Knoxville Raceway was able to beat the rain to get in the first night of the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals and Jonathan Davenport beat all of the drivers to put himself in prime position for Saturday’s finals. Davenport led all 25 laps and beat Bobby Pierce, who was one spot from scoring a perfect night as he was quick time, and won his heat. Hudson O’Neal completed the podium in 3rd. The points have Pierce in the lead with 498, followed by Davenport at 487, Devon Moran in 3rd with 486, 4th is Tim McCreadie with 485 and 5th is O’Neal with 484. All 40 drivers will come back tonight and run night two, and the highest point total of the two nights will be used to grid the drivers in their starting positions.
