The Newton volleyball team went 1-2 at the North Mahaska Invitational on Saturday. The Cardinals defeated Lynnville-Sully 2-0 (21-13, 21-6) and fell to the hosting Warhawks 2-1 (21-15, 19-21, 10-15) and No. 11 in 2A Pella Christian 2-0 (25-11, 25-15). The Cardinals were led by 49 assists from Isabelle Rawlins, 21 kills from Delaney Wollums, and 17 kills from Macy Lampe. Newton falls to 6-8 overall and returns to action for senior night on Monday against previously-ranked Grinnell.
