The PCM volleyball team went 1-2 at a tournament hosted by North Mahaska on Saturday.

The Mustangs fell to Pella Christian 2-0 (21-17, 21-14), then lost in two close sets to HLV 2-0 (21-19, 22-20). PCM went on to win their match against Lynnville-Sully 2-0 (25-18, 25-20). Rebecca DeVries led the team with 19 kills while Libby Winters had 11. Tori Lindsay led the team with assists as she had 34 and Winters led the team with digs as she picked up 15. As a team the Mustangs went 92/109 with 14 aces.

Coach Sarah DeVries said “We came out strong and I thought we played well against Pella Christian. We were able to keep our hits away from their block and played scrappy. Our match against HLV was filled with our own errors. They are a good team, but we had them beat at the net, just not with our serve receive and digging.  We finished the day strong and stayed in front of L-S which felt good after losing to them earlier in the season. We played more consistently and attacked the net well.”

The Mustangs fall to 8-5 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday against Sigourney.
