The planned relocation of two 30,000 gallon anhydrous ammonia tanks out of Sully and Grinnell to property west of Sully produced no public comment during a public hearing yesterday. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources required the Jasper County Board of Supervisors to hold a public hearing on Key Cooperative of Sully’s plans. Key Cooperative’s Chief Operating Officer and Agronomy Division Manager Brent Deppe said all the feedback he’s heard has been positive.
“We need to move our ammonia bullet that’s right in Sully. That’s been a goal of ours for years. We are also going to move the ammonia bullet that’s in the City of Grinnell. Both of those are going to the old Sully Truck Wash property we purchased west of town. Safety First for everyone and gives us better logistic opportunities.”
Deppe says the anhydrous ammonia tanks will be relocated next summer and should be operational in the fall of 2025.
