The 3-1 Newton Cardinals open district play on the road tonight at Bondurant-Farrar. The Cardinals have won three straight games, including a 35-0 Homecoming victory last Friday Night against Marshalltown. Newton currently has the #1 ranked scoring defense in Class 4A. according to the BCMoore Rankings. In four games, opponents have scored 41 points against the Cardinals. Meanwhile, Newton’s offense has consistently had 300 and 400 yard games, as they’ve scored 100 points. Bondurant-Farrar is still looking for their first win. But Newton Coach Andy Swedenhjelm says their 0-4 record is deceiving.

“They’ve played one of the toughest schedules in the state. They are always a tough physical team that’s well coached and aggressive. They do a nice job of preparing their kids every week.”

Kick-off at Bondurant-Farrar High School is at 7 p.m. with the pregame on kniakrls.com KRLS3 at 6:30 p.m.
