 A $10,000 bond has been set for a western Missouri woman allegedly caught in Newton with a stolen pick-up. Newton Police have charged 36-year-old Vanessa Denise Harris with 1st Degree Theft, a Class C felony. Officers say she was arrested without incident over the noon hour last Wednesday, September 25th. Newton Police claim Harris was driving a stolen 2016 Dodge Ram pick-up from Missouri, and note the truck’s owner mentioned her as a potential suspect. The court-filed criminal complaint states Newton officers saw the truck on a license plate recognition camera on Iowa Speedway Drive near Interstate 80 at exit 168. The officers then allegedly saw Harris get fuel at the Casey’s there before she backed into a parking spot and entered the store. Court papers show a preliminary hearing for the Lawton Missouri woman is scheduled for this coming Monday, October 7th.
