
The Norwalk volleyball team defeated Pella Christian in three sets on Tuesday night, sweeping the Little Hawkeye Conference match by scores of 25-16, 26-24, 25-16. The Class 4A 8th-ranked Warriors snapped the 2A 11th-ranked Eagles’ 10-game winning streak, improving to 17-11 overall and 3-2 in conference play. They maintain a share of third place in the LHC. Pella Christian is now 18-7 and 2-3, respectively.
Norwalk coach John Fulton tells KNIA Sports that the Warriors played great in the serve and pass game, opening up opportunities for the team’s middles. Hadley Michael set 30 assists on the night and Dakota Poen had a team-high 15 digs.
The Warrior kill leaders were Elle Hatlevig with 13, Emmory Toppenberg seven and Ava Carlson seven. Hatlevig and Toppenberg combined for just one error in 37 attacks, both finishing with a kill efficiency of .500 or better.
Norwalk will compete in the Waverly-Shell Rock Tournament on Saturday, taking on New Hampton, Janesville and Ankeny in pool play starting at 9:00 a.m.
