
Bailey Vos Breaks School Record as Pella Christian Cross Country Teams Take 9th at Williamsburg
Bailey Vos became the fastest 5k runner in the Pella Christian girls cross country program’s history at the Williamsburg Invitational Tuesday, as the ranked boys and girls teams each secured ninth place finishes.
The Class 2A #13 Pella Christian girls cross country team totaled 213 points in the meet, led by Vos’s ninth place finish individually. Bailey’s time of 19:48.4 at Williamsburg broke the previous school record of 19:56 set by Joslyn Terpstra at Centerville’s Big Red Invitational in October 2021. Hayley Rens (20:49.2) was the second runner to cross the finish line for the Pella Christian girls in 30th place, while Julia Schmalcs (20:57.2) wasn’t far behind in 33rd place. Rounding out the Eagles lineup was Maisy Meinders in 70th (22:37.1), Greta Vos in 71st (22:37.5), Chloe Vos in 78th (23:01.7), and Addison DeJong in 79th (23:04.8).
The Class 2A #15 Eagles boys squad had 221 points at Williamsburg, with Sawyer Meinders finishing as the top runner in the lineup in 15th place with a time of 17:15.5. Deacon Branderhorst (17:49.3) added a 40th place finish for the Pella Christian boys, while Joel Pogany (18:09.4) took 56th. Rounding out the varsity lineup for the Eagle boys was Logan Gallaher in 59th (18:13.4), Griffin Stoltz in 61st (18:14.6), Will Vanden Bosch in 66th (18:18.1), and Eli Hoksbergen in 70th (18:37.8).

Pella Christian Volleyball Falls to Norwalk on Senior Night
Hosting a battle of ranked Little Hawkeye Conference teams Tuesday night, the Class 2A #11 Pella Christian volleyball team was swept 3-0 against Class 4A #8 Norwalk on Senior Night.
The Eagles battled with the Warriors early in the first set, as two points was the largest lead until the Warriors took a 14-11 advantage and finished the set on an 11-5 run to win 25-16. Norwalk led for most of the second set, but Pella Christian battled back from a 21-13 deficit to take a late 24-23 advantage, only for the Warriors to rattle off the next three points for a 26-24 win. Down two sets to zero, the Eagles remained tight with Norwalk on the scoreboard, but another late Warriors run pushed them past Pella Christian for a 25-16 victory to secure the sweep. Addison Bandstra and Addie Van Arendonk each had five kills in the loss, while Chloe Huisman recorded 17 assists. Rachel Kacmarynski led the Eagles defensive effort with three blocks, while Bandstra posted a team-high three aces.
The Pella Christian volleyball team fell to 18-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play, and will look to bounce back on Saturday at the Faith Quad hosted by Grand View Christian at Faith Baptist Bible College.
