The Newton Public Library will be closed next Wednesday through Friday October 9-11. Library Director Nicole Terry says the library’s server will be replaced, which will temporarily disable all technology functions within the building.

“The building’s technology will be down. Our internet will be down and all the computers will be offline. We have to re-network the computers, the software for the internet stations, all of that.”

Terry notes it’s recommended the server be replaced about every 5 years. She says the upgrade will not affect remote usage of the library’s catalog, Adventure Pass reservations, or any functions through library accounts, such as renewing items or placing holds. In addition, the library’s staff will attend the Iowa Library Association Conference in Des Moines October 10th and 11th. During next week’s three-day closure, no fines will accrue on library items.
