Paving has begun on Main Street in Knoxville.

At the start of this week, the mainline of Main Street was paved, and from there, parking areas, curbs, and sidewalks will be hand poured over the next few weeks. According to Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery, It will be at least one week cure time for the recent pour, and if they get a good cure by next Monday and are able to drive on it, they’ll be able to begin the parking, curb, and sidewalks. Ussery adds they are currently estimating three-to-four weeks of work remaining on phase one. Phase two will be working on water services for the remainder of this week. Once that is complete, they’ll begin on dirt work. There’s no storm sewer on phase two and sanitary work is already completed.

Phase one and two of the street improvement project is expected to be totally completed by December 2nd.
