A downtown Pella store connecting the area community with works from the broader world is celebrating a milestone anniversary this month.

Amanda Johnson is the manager of The Work of Our Hands, a local group that sells handmade crafts from around the globe through free trade, which ensures the artisans who made the products are fairly paid for their efforts.

A Fair Trade Rug event will be held October 9th through the 12th, featuring 300 different rugs from Pakistan.

The store’s 35th anniversary celebration will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 1-3 p.m. at the Klokkenspel Plaza, which includes llamas, games, and kids coloring activities.
