The Newton Cardinals will take on a key District opponent tonight as they travel to Pella. The Dutch are 5-0 along with district opponent Gilbert. Newton is 4-1 and the three teams are 1-0 in District play. Newton Head Coach Andy Swedenhjelm expects all three teams to be in the playoffs.

“Our District is tough. It was tough last year. I think we will have three teams in the playoffs. Our guys believe they are at the top of that and I think they can go out and show they belong there.”

The Cardinals have hit on several long scoring plays the past two weeks, but Coach Swednhjelm says Pella has that capability as well. He notes the Dutch will especially test the Cardinal secondary by putting their receivers in several different formations. The Cardinals have won the past two games against Pella.
