Jasper County Economic Development Corporation is using its Small Grants Program to financially assist the development of a Comprehensive Plan for the City of Sully. Jeff Davidson, the Corporation’s Executive Director, says the total cost of creating the plan is $23,500. The City of Sully is paying $13,500, with the $10,000 grant covering the rest of the cost. According to Davidson, Sully currently lacks available property for business and residential development.

“What the Comprehensive Plan will do is determine what are the things we want for Sully in the future. Do we have property annexed and ready to go, or is that something we want to do. That way we could respond more nimbly to someone who wants to come to Sully and expand a business, expand residential opportunities, or whatever it might be.”

The Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance has been contracted to help Sully City leaders develop the Comprehensive Plan through a public participation process. Once a plan is drafted, it will be voted on by the Sully City Council.
