Getting a goal from freshman Savannah Schneider in each half, the Simpson College women’s soccer team cruised to a 6-0 shutout win over Luther.
Schneider gave the Storm (8-0-3, 2-0-0 A-R-C) a 2-0 lead in the 38th minute and was the second to score in the second period off an assist from Hailey Kowzan, who found the back of the net less than two minutes after halftime. Cassie Nash scored the game winner, Maddie Hays added her fourth penalty kick of the year, and Georgia Paulson tallied her second goal in as many games.
The Storm defense held Luther (1-6-5, 1-1-1 A-R-C) to nine shots en route to its fifth shutout of the year. Meredith Downs made four saves in 79 minutes of action, while Braelyn Thomas stopped one shot in the final 11 minutes.
