The City of Knoxville is reminding citizens of city code regarding yard signs.

This time of year the city starts to see an increase in signs placed within the right of way, specifically political signs. The city is reminding residents that city code prohibits all signs that are not municipal traffic control, parking or directional signs from being placed in the right of way. The right of way is described as the area between the sidewalk and curb. If  property does not have a sidewalk, the sign must be placed at least five feet from the back of the curb.

If signs are placed within the right of way, it’s within the jurisdiction of the city to remove these signs.
