Jasper County has seven new Reserve Deputy Sheriffs. They were appointed by the County Board of Supervisors this week, at the request of Sheriff John Halferty. He said he was lacking the ten to 15 Reserve Deputies he likes to have.

“We are down to about seven. We have had some retirements. These people want to volunteer plus a couple of them are paramedics with us. I think it’s a win-win for the County.”

Halferty added the Reserve Sheriff Deputies do a tremendous amount of work for the Sheriff’s Department when there are special events.
