The Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League in Newton often collaborates with the Jasper County Conservation Department to host a number of events for kids every year. One such event is this Friday’s Halloween Hike. Donny Ingle, the Izaak Walton League Manager, says it brings a lot of families to their 40 acre site.

“We partner with Jasper County Conservation and have skits, music, kids hayrack ride, smores, we roast hot dogs and have face painting. It’s a really good turnout event.”

Ingle says the Izaak Walton League hosts several events for kids to expose youth to the great outdoors. The Halloween hike is free, but donations to the Jasper County Conservation Department would be appreciated. The hour-long hikes begin at 6:00 p.m. and the last one leaves at 8:00 p.m. The skits will be performed by members of the Newton Community Theatre and are from their recent production of “The Sound of Music.” Newton Izaak Walton League Manager Donny Ingle talks more about the non-profit organization on today’s Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Let’s Talk Newton.
