A burst of colder air is set to likely end the growing season across the state of Iowa. South central Iowa has a frost advisory in place early Tuesday and a freeze warning for Wednesday, starting just after midnight. Near to below freezing temperatures are expected overnight tonight into Tuesday morning, then even colder temperatures in the mid to upper 20s are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Sensitive vegetation will struggle to survive those conditions. Temperatures will then slowly warm again through the second half of the week. The forecast remains dry, with increasing winds on Thursday and Friday, which may lead to elevated fire weather concerns on both days.
