Felony charges have been filed against a Newton woman for allegedly threatening a man about a debt outside a Newton liquor store this past Saturday. According to Newton Police, 40 year old Lisa Marie Dickerson pointed some type of gun at the victim while telling them they needed to pay what they owed. Officers claim the victim was with his father and brother at the time, and note the incident outside World to Go Liquor on First Avenue East was caught on video. It was reported to police just after 6:30 in the evening on Saturday, October 12th. When questioned, the arrest report states Dickerson and her boyfriend admitted the victim owed the boyfriend $200 and thought the incident was funny. Dickerson also said the gun she used was a water gun, and stated she had “ditched” it before Newton police arrived at her home. The charges filed against her include Extortion, a Class D felony, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, a Class C felony. She also faces three counts of Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. Dickerson is currently free on a $25,000 bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for next Monday, October 21st.
