Pleasantville senior volleyball player Hope DeMan has broken the school record for blocks in a season.
DeMan broke the record at the West Central Conference Tournament on Tuesday in a match against Panorama when she picked up her 58th block. DeMan has been a significant contributor for the Trojans this season as she currently has 164 kills and 32 ace serves. Pleasantville volleyball coach Ammie McGraw says DeMan is an example of a player who has never stopped improving.
“Hope has stopped up so much for us this year and we talked about that as a coaching staff at the beginning of the year how we needed middles to have a stronger presence. She has been a middle blocker for Pleasantville in her career, but I’m not sure we utilized her how we should have, and so this was a goal of ours to really get our middles in the mix and she has stopped up in a big way. I like to use her as an example of you never stop improving. She is a senior, but she has improved immensely this year. She is not planning on playing volleyball after this, but there is no reason that you can’t stop improving every year.”
DeMan and the Trojans finished the regular season with a 23-11 overall record and they will travel to ACGC on Wednesday for the opening round of postseason play.
