The Newton volleyball team went 1-2 at the Gilbert Quadrangular on Thursday night. The Cardinals swept Southeast Warren, but were swept by Oskaloosa and Gilbert. Newton fell to Oskaloosa 21-18, 21-10, and the host Tigers 21-15, 21-13, but defeated the Warhawks 21-17, 21-12. In the Quadrangular Cardinals senior Delaney Woollums had 21 kills, 16 digs, and was 13-13 serving. Senior Macy Lampe added 17 kills, seven digs, and an ace. Junior Isabelle Rawlins contributed four kills, 48 assists, nine digs, and two blocks. Newton is now 12-16 overall on the season. The Cardinals next compete in regional action, squaring off with Bondurant-Farrar on Tuesday, October 22nd.
