While the Pella football team gears up to play for a district championship and undefeated regular season, they will also celebrate the legacy of their outgoing head coach.

A celebration has been scheduled for Jay McKinstrey in his final regular season home game this Friday against Gilbert. While the main focus will be the Dutch attempting to secure homefield advantage in the upcoming postseason, all current Pella High School students are invited to a free meal before the game by Central College. Immediately following the competition, the seniors will take their traditional final walk before a fireworks celebration.

Carson Wealth, under the leadership of former Pella state football champion Zach Vande Weerd, is hosting a special celebration for those directly connected to the program on Saturday, October 26th at Pella High School.

“We welcome all former and current players, coaches, trainers, managers, statisticians, chain crew, media personnel, and any others who were directly involved in the Pella High Football Program to come celebrate Coach Mac’s retirement with one of his favorite treats, a chocolate malt, on Saturday October 26th at the Pella High School Commons,” a social media post read.
