There will also be an in person Informational meeting in Kellogg this Thursday, October 24th, at the Amboy Grange Building at 220 High Street. If approved, the $6,400,000 bond referendum would not raise taxes according to County Supervisor Doug Cupples. He says that’s because the new County Administration Building and the Sheriff’s Office and jail are about to be paid off.

“The facts are paying off those two buildings makes it so there would be no additional tax levy”

The bond revenue would build a new Secondary Roads maintenance building and shop and complete several Jasper County Conservation Department projects. Those projects include furnishing the classroom at the soon to be built Environmental Education Center, and putting up new maintenance shops at Mariposa Recreational Area and Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve. The revenue would also convert the former Jasper County Animal rescue league building southeast of the County Sheriff’s Office and Jail into a Sheriff’s Office training facility.
