The Knoxville Volleyball Squad will start the class 4A regional round tonight against Oskaloosa. The Panthers finished the regular season on Saturday and stand at 22-16 and host an Indians squad that went 13-19 and finished last in the Little Hawkeye Conference with an 0-6 record. Both teams have played tough schedules and Panthers Coach Mollie Keitges tells KNIA/KRLS Sports both teams are vastly different from the 2nd match of the season in late August.
Keitges: “Osky will be tough. I think Gracie DeRonde is getting closer to 100% as she was nursing an injury. They’ll be a different two from when we played them but we’re a different team as well so I think the girls are super excited.”
The Indians are led by Gracie DeRonde, who has put down 235 kills and has one of the best serving percentages at 89% and 35 aces. Knoxville will bring in a little more balance up front led by Hannah Dunkin’s 250 kills. Jordyn Counts with 170 and Rylyn McCarty with 161 are the other Panthers with at least 100 kills. McCarty had 70 blocks on the season and the Panthers are at nearly 90% in serving with four Panthers with at least 30 aces led by Freshman Addisyn Williams. First serve tonight is at 7:00 from Knoxville High School the winner will advance to play Carlisle Thursday night in the regional semi-final.
