The Twin Cedars Volleyball Squad fell to Moravia in a five set thriller on Monday in the first round of the class 1A regional. The Sabers roared out of the gates winning set one 25-9 in dominant fashion, but the MoHawks won sets two and three 25-22 and 26-24. The Sabers forced a winner take all set five after taking set four 25-15 and were up 10-7 in set five, but Moravia scored the final eight points of the match to win 15-10. Sabers Coach Shelby Miller told KNIA/KRLS Sports the girls fought to the bitter end.
Miller: “I’m happy with how the girls played in the 5th set. They fought for it and the senior really wanted it. I couldn’t have asked for better effort and that’s what I want is effort.”
Ami Mockenhaupt had 15 assists, five kills and three aces while Cristen Durian had eight kills. Alli Reed had ten digs. Khloe French had seven kills, and 14 digs. Kennedi Ford had nine assists, five aces and 12 digs. M.J. Smith had kills. The Sabers will finish the season 10-16
