Members of the Newton Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will attempt to qualify for the State Meet later today. Newton is assigned to run at the Class 3A Qualifying Meet in Pella at the Pella Sports Park. Runners from 13 schools including Pella, Knoxville, and Oskaloosa will participate. The girls are scheduled to run at 4 p.m. and the boys at 4:40 p.m.. Newton’s Cross Country athletes have not competed since the Little Hawkeye Conference Meet at Maytag Park on Monday, October 14th. The Cardinal boys placed 6th out of the seven schools, while the Newton girls finished at the bottom of the conference.
