Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson is holding another Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) meeting this coming Monday, October 28th. Robinson helped form a CERT team when he worked in Mahaska County. The past few months, he’s been recruiting volunteers to get a Jasper County team going.

“We will find a position for you. I have had CERT members who live in a wheelchair. I have had members who use canes. There is a job for everybody when it comes to supporting emergency services.”

Robinson says CERT members can help with search and rescues, clear debris from natural disasters, and assist at an Emergency Operation Center. Monday’s CERT Meeting is open to the public and will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday in the Jasper County Emergency Operations Center at the Armory Annex  Building, which is at 1030 West 2nd Street South in Newton.
