The 2024 General Election is one week away, and absentee voting in Marion County is ongoing through November 4th.
When Marion County voters receive their ballot this year they will make selections for President, US Representative, State Representative, County Board of Supervisors, County Auditor, County Sheriff, County Attorney to fill a vacancy, Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner, County Agricultural Extension Council, judge retention and two constitutional amendment questions. Polls on election day will open from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm and absentee voting at the Marion County Courthouse will be open until 4:30 pm on Monday.
Residents can vote at the courthouse during business hours and just need to bring an ID. Voter registration can also be done the same day in the State of Iowa. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia says he always sees the most voters for presidential elections.
“We’re expecting a large turnout. I think people understand that. The lines at the polls might be a little bit longer. We obviously don’t like to have people wait in line, but there are processes we have to go through. Our poll workers do a great job and they can get people through but presidential elections are the largest turnout elections that we have, high percentages. I don’t know if we will get to 80% of our registered voters or not, but it’s going to be a big number.”
