The Pella Public Library will host Central College professor Paul Weihe for the program, “The Heritage of Traditional Plant Uses by Native Americans” on Monday.

To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, those in attendance will learn how past and present Native Americans use plants for food, fuel, fiber, and medicine. Dr. Weihe will have examples of uses of natural materials and share his experiences teaching an Ethnobotany class, which explores the interaction of plants and people. Additionally, in honor of the Foodie Friday tradition for his class, Dr. Weihe will share a treat with a lesser-used natural ingredient.

The program will be held at 6:30 pm in the Library’s Meeting Room and is free and open to all ages. For more information, contact the Pella Public Library at 641-628-4268.
