The Newton YMCA is hosting two open house-style events this Friday to introduce the facility’s new President and CEO to the public. George Sorensen officially took over that position Monday, October 28th. Over the past five years Sorensen has worked as Branch Manager for the Greater Wichita YMCA in Wichita, Kansas. Prior to that, he was Operations Manager for Opti-Life Vitality Club and Spa in Wichita. Sorenson says his family, which includes his wife, daughter and son, are happy to be in Newton.

“Super excited to be here in Newton working for the YMCA. My family is also excited to be here as well. We are excited to help impact and build the community through the YMCA and put down roots here and be part of the community.”

The public is invited to stop by the Newton YMCA and meet George Sorenson this Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. Free coffee and donuts will be available.
