The Central College women’s soccer team fell in its final regular season match to Loras College 3-0, while the Dutch men’s soccer team fell 1-0 against the Duhawks after a scoreless first half in the regular season finale on Tuesday.

The Dutch women (10-6-2, 3-3-2 American Rivers) were only able to get one shot off which was on goal from Rachel Mendlik. Loras, currently ranked the #11 team in Division III, scored two goals in the first half before adding one more in the second half. Goalkeeper Zoey Sizemore collected eight saves on the night, as Central’s three-week unbeaten streak ended.

For the 12th time in the past 13 seasons the Central women qualified for the conference tournament, finishing as the #5 seed. The Dutch will hit the road and take on the University of Dubuque for the first round on Saturday, and the start time is to be determined.

Despite the Dutch men (7-8-2, 3-4-1 American Rivers) putting four of their six shots on target, they were unable to find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Ronan Murphy stopped five out of the six shots he faced, allowing the lone Loras goal on a corner in the 65th minute. Lelong Miyeng led the squad with two shots on goal.

The Dutch men finish the regular season as the #6 seed in the conference and qualify for the conference tournament for the first time since 2019. Central will have a rematch against Loras in the first round of the tournament Saturday once again in Dubuque, and the start time is still to be determined.
