With a topsy-turvy six years for the program in-between, the Pella volleyball team is making a return trip to the final eight of Class 4A volleyball and the state tournament after a 3-0 victory over conference rival #11 Norwalk Tuesday (25-21, 25-20, 25-17).
The Dutch held off a valiant Warrior effort that kept the first two sets within three point margins for the majority of those frames, only for the home team to pull away late.
Pella’s balanced offense held firm in the sweep, which included 13 kills from Katie Scheckel, 11 from Emma Eekhoff, and 10 for Brooke Schulte.
Norwalk was led by 14 kills from Elle Hatlevig and 10 from Jillian Hammond. The Warriors finish 2024 at 28-14.
Pella improves to 39-7 overall and is the #5 seed in the Class 4A tournament and set to compete against #4 Clear Creek-Amana on Monday at 6 p.m. at XTREAM Arena in Coralville. Tune in to state tournament volleyball on 92.1 KRLS. This is the 11th state tournament appearance for the Dutch.
