A Newton non-profit is helping Jasper County residents address the growing number of community and feral cats around their homes. Lucy’s Pet Pantry will be providing low-cost spaying and neutering for community and feral cats this coming Saturday. Additionally, all cats and kittens will be ear tipped and tattooed. The cost for neutering is $35, while each spaying costs $60. Brittney Eckert of Lucy’s Pet Pantry says the limited availability sold out. The non-profit recently held a different event regarding feral cats in Prairie City. Lucy’s Pet Pantry volunteers taught community members and city staff how to humanely manage feral cat populations through Trap Neuter Return methods on Monday, October 28th at Prairie City City Hall.
