Habitat for Humanity of Marion County will be holding a call-a-thon on Monday in an effort to raise money for their Critical Home Repair program.

Executive Director Amy Meyer says that the organization is hopeful that the call-a-thon will help kick-start their fundraising efforts to reach their year-end goal of $50,000. Amy says that due to a higher number of needs for Critical Home Repair this year, they are currently out of funds for the program until February. Meyer adds that Critical Home Repair offers assistance to those who qualify for the program to make necessary repairs to their homes, to ensure they remain viable for the homeowner to live in.

“Once a house reaches a point where it has so many repairs needed that a person can no longer safely live there, we want to make sure that we’re keeping people in their homes as long as possible. So for our critical home repair program, we did about thirty projects this year across Marion County. So, things like roof replacements, furnaces, foundation repairs, we’ve seen a lot of siding, and even accessibility issues, there’s a broad range of things that we can do.”
