Multiple Veterans Day events were held in Indianola Monday, honoring veterans for their service in our nation’s armed forces. American Legion Post 165 held a flag raising ceremony, in addition to the playing of Taps at the Junior Edwards statue at the IOOF Cemetery.

Victory Christian Academy held their annual Veterans Day Program, with students performing a folding of the flag ceremony, singing patriotic songs, and attendees being awarded Quilts of Valor.

The Indianola Hy-Vee served breakfast at the Veterans Day Program in addition to at the Indianola Hy-Vee location, providing a free breakfast to all veterans. Store Director Nate Fehl tells KNIA News the free breakfast is one of the most important days of the year for all Hy-Vee employees, and the Indianola community has always embraced and supported the veterans in meaningful ways.
