Despite falling in heartbreaking fashion to #2 Loras in the American Rivers Conference championship game on Saturday 3-2, the Simpson women’s soccer team is in the NCAA D-III National Tournament after being selected as an at-large bid on Monday. The Storm have a 14-2-3 record, only falling to Loras in the regular season and conference tournament, and will match up with the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Saturday. The Storm fell in the round of 32 to LaCrosse last season, and head coach Jeremy Reinert said revenge is not on the mind, but it will be nice to be able to match up with a team they know they can run with.
“I think where we are at right now, I’ve got the heart and the pulse of this team, and I know that this group can play. I know that this group can scrap, and it’s a group that has been hungry for the postseason. We are finally here, and we get to let them experience it.”
