Norwalk sophomore Mallory Betts will compete for Des Moines Lincoln at the 2024 Iowa Girls State Swimming and Diving Meet. The state meet will be held Friday and Saturday, November 15-16, at the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA.

Betts qualified for state as a member of the Rails’ 200-yard medley relay, swimming the 50-yard freestyle anchor leg. The team of Samantha Douds, Haylee Shaffer, Madelline De Meyer and Betts clocked a third-place time of 1:56.74 at Saturday’s regional meet in Johnston. They are seeded 24th among 32 state qualifiers in the event. Norwalk freshman Eva Smith also competed for Lincoln at the regional meet.

State meet prelims will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Saturday’s state finals start at noon.
