The Knoxville Girls basketball Squad will have a different look this season. The makeup of the varsity squad is vastly different from the group that walked off the court at Dallas Center-Grimes following a near upset over the then #1 ranked team in the state. Gone are Brittany Bacorn, Anna Anderson and others, plus non seniors who are not playing this season. Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports while all but two players return with significant varsity minutes from last season ,he tells KNIA/KRLS sports while the varsity experience is lower than normal, they have all played at some level previously.

Ritchhart: “Couple of the other girls got JV minutes last year. Bridgette Liston got a lot of minutes in JV and so did Ayla Williams. Addy Williams who had a good season in volleyball this fall. So they got minutes in basketball but they didn’t get minutes at the varsity level.”

Hannah Dunkin returns as the only senior on the team and will be called on to likely lead the scoring punch this year. Dunkin averaged 15.9 points per game and was 82% from the free throw line and led the team in three pointers made at 41. Younger sister Addy also comes back with experience on varsity. She had 46 steals last season. Others who played varsity or JV roles last season that will likely be called on to score more this season are Iselynn Prevo, Peyton Kearney, Ayla Williams and Bridgette Liston among others. Knoxville opens the season on November 26th against PCM. Live coverage of Knoxville Basketball will be found this winter on 95.3 KNIA.
