The Pella Christian girls basketball team will look to a variety of girls to step into leadership roles during the 2024-2025 season.

The Eagles, who are just over a week away from their first game of the year, will feature just one senior and three juniors that played in varsity action last winter. A majority of Pella Christian’s returning players will be sophomores, with five girls that played varying amounts of minutes for the varsity team a year ago. With a squad that features both experience and youth, Eagles head coach Brendan Foughty says he’s excited about the ability for a variety of girls to step into leadership roles.

“We’ve got a really big sophomore class of strong leaders that are passionate about basketball, are vocal, and are growing as leaders. And we’ve got a few juniors that are coming into their own as well. So, I think the great thing about our team is we don’t really identify this as our one captain or our one leader. I encourage all of our kids to be leaders and to find opportunities to lead in different ways and I’m just excited that we’ve got a group of girls and a culture that’s building that I see leadership in multiple different areas from multiple different girls.”

The Pella Christian girls basketball team opens the season at home on Saturday, November 23rd against Davis County at 4:30 pm.
