New Pleasantville boys wrestling coach Micah Mullenix will look to continue the tradition of success with the program in his new role.
The Trojans saw success under former head coach Heath DeForest who resigned this summer, but Mullenix served on his staff as an assistant. Mullenix was also an assistant football coach this season, so he is familiar with his roster. Last year the Trojans had a successful season as a team and sent four wrestlers to state as individuals. Two of those wrestlers will return this season in senior Tommy Booth and sophomore Zane Mullenix. The Trojans will also return several other wrestlers from their lineup last season that have a chance to punch their ticket to state this season. Coach Mullenix said he loves having the support that the community gives to the wrestling program.
“It is a great tradition. I feel like we have a huge support system here in Pleasantville. From our boosters, to our community members, staff in the school, and support everywhere. Getting text messages and phone calls saying good luck on the first day. It’s just huge to have that kind of support this year. I hope that we will have a few events at home where we can get good attendance which we’ve always done well there. Last year we were able to host districts and that would be great to be able to do that again this year. I feel like that is just a huge advantage for our guys and the community as well.”
The Trojans will open their season on December 5th at Southeast Warren.
