The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday, discussing two new positions proposed to be added to the city, a Deputy Librarian under current Library Director Michele Patrick, and an Assistant Engineer under current Public Works Director Akhilesh Pal. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the additional positions would assist in city events, and the Assistant Engineer would help manage the multiple city projects that have all taken place in the last year.
“This year we had a record number of projects with the downtown square, Hillcrest, K Street, the Clinton culvert, and the Franklin Sewer Project, and the Buxton/92 signal lights, projects all around town that were being managed as best as we possibly could with a very thin staff. So having an additional Assistant Engineer would really help out in that regard as the city continues to grow in the future.”
