The Newton YMCA holds its 14th Annual Turkey Trot 5k Race tomorrow morning. Fitness Coordinator at the Newton YMCA Sarah Pittman says over 125 people have registered for this year’s Turkey Trot, which surpasses the 80 to 100 participants the past couple of years. 

“We have a Tiny Turkey Trot at 8:50 a.m. That is where kids 12 and under run around our circle lot. Our 5K and a 1.5 mile route we added this year start at 9 a.m.”

Pittman says the Tiny Turkey Trot is free and no registration is required. Registration for the 5K and 1.5 mile run is required and runs through today at the Newton YMCA or on the YMCA’s website. The cost for YMCA members is $15, while the cost for non-members is $20. The 5K route begins and ends at the Newton YMCA and goes through the Children’s Forest south of Newton High School.
