The City of Knoxville is continuing to seek feedback on their comprehensive plan survey.

The survey, which was originally going to close at the end of October, will now be open until the end of the year. The comprehensive plan supports the city’s endeavors to accomplish its goals, objectives, and policies formulated during the planning process. The ultimate goal of the comprehensive plan is to ensure the wellbeing of Knoxville residents now and into the future. The comprehensive plan provides the legal basis for the establishment of zoning and subdivision regulations to implement the plan. The city’s current Comprehensive Plan can be viewed here

Taking the survey will assist in the development of the plan. Community input will help guide the development of goals and policies to support Knoxville’s planning and growth for the next 20 years. At the last Knoxville City Council meeting, employees with MSA Planning and Design Studio discussed feedback they have received so far from the survey and the open house that was held in September. Results showed that most people who have completed the survey have lived in Knoxville for an extended period of time, and City Manager Heather Ussery encourages those who are new to the area to also complete the survey.

“They had said that it is not uncommon for that to happen, but I think being newer to the community, it gives some fresh insight as well. Coming from other communities they see other things, so being able to provide that feedback here in Knoxville on what they’d like to see although they are still new to the community, that feedback is important.”
