The first season in Coach Matt Bennett’s time as the Melcher-Dallas Boys basketball Coach he only netted one win. However, Bennett says he saw a lot of potential at the end of the season which is giving him confidence that the Saints can be better this year.

Benett: “I think the boys showed they have heart. All that work from last year, it’s like we picked up from last year and I can see when we’re in the gym we just picked up right where we left off from last season.”

Bennett’s top four scorers were projected back, but Gavin Thordarson will be lost for the season due to an ACL injury in football. Back and ready to go this season will be leading scorer Drew Heaberlin at 10.8 points per game, Brody Johnson at 6.9, and Reece Chiabotta at 6.7. The Saints are set to get their season underway at Pleasantville December 3rd.
