As temperatures continue to drop, the City of Indianola is reminding residents about city regulations regarding sump pump discharge. As the ground begins to freeze, sump pumps may still operate, however, the discharge may not be able to be absorbed into the ground, leading to possible ice accumulation on sidewalks and streets. City regulations prohibit the discharge of sump pumps any closer than five feet to a property line, street, or alley, and require that property owners remove ice accumulations from abutting sidewalks.
